Run! The tsunami is coming for us!

 What Causes Tsunami?

             Tsunami is a wave that is way, way bigger than other waves.  A Tsunami is formed after an earthquake where the ground shakes,  then the sea goes way right back then comes back and causes a humongous wave that can destroy anything and everything in its way.

A volcanic eruption also causes a tsunami. The eruption can either  be underwater  or on land. A submarine  or underwater earthquake has a similar effect like the earthquake on land as it  makes the ground shakes and causes the water above to form into big ripples that eventually turn into  a tsunami.

  

An underwater volcanic  eruption can also cause a tsunami which can be very deadly. When the tsunami hits the land,  it can create a lot of damage to properties, buildings, plants and animals. People can get seriously injured or die.  But  a lot of people also survive in the tsunami if they are lucky or if they were able to escape from it by running to higher grounds.

Tsunami is one of the most dangerous disasters  that can happen to us.

In Indonesia in 2004, a  tsunami killed 230, 000 people the day after Boxing Day.

Learning intention: We are learning to understand and follow the structure of an explanation.

Success criteria: I know I can do this when I write the introduction, explanation and a conclusion about what causes a tsunami.

I wonder how long it will take for the seed to grow!

What you need:

• Yoghurt pot
• Soil
• Pencil
• Broad bean seed
• Water
• Tray

What to do

Step 1: Get a yoghurt pot that has holes on the bottom.

Step 2.  Grab a sticky paper and a pencil then write your name on it and stick it on the pot.

Step 2: Fill the pot with soil then make a hole using the pinky finger.

Step 3: Place the seed in the hole with the smiley part facing up.

Step 4: Then  cover the seed with soil and water it.

Step 5: Finally, put your pot on to the tray and remember to water it every day.

Learning intention: We are learning how to write a procedure.

Success criteria: I know I can do this when I write down the five steps for planting a broad bean seed.

What I am good at?

I am good at many things!

At home I am good at gardening!
I can dig a hole on the grown.
And I can plant fruit. I can water it . I can also plant healthy plant.

At I am good at writing !
I add some verbs. I can put some interesting words.
I can write it on the blog. I can also publish it on the blog.


At the field I am good at basketball!
I can shoot the ball in the hoop. I can dunk  on the hoop.
I can also pass the ball. And I can trick the people by bouncing the ball.

At home I am good at cleaning the floor!
I can pick up the rubbish from the floor. I can mop it.

At the field I am good at  soccer!
I can kick the ball hard as I can. I also make trick at the people by step and kick.

One awful day I saw a donkey with one eye.
It has one eye because a silly old hunter poked its eye with a sharp nail.

So, I  took my phone and called a vet. They took the donkey and went back to the vets clinic.
They put a new eye in the wonky donkeys eye.

After that  the donkey jumped up and down. I ended up tired, so I went home.
The next day I saw the donkey again and it followed me so I took him where the horse lived to keep him safe from the hunter.
On the third day I got up and went to  outside to  feed the donkey.
I saw the donkey ran back to its mum and dad. I went back home and lay on my bed.

Oh no! The alien caught  me in my space ship!

The six tall aliens took me to their  king.

Then they told me to take them to earth .  Then I said only if you let go.

They said no!

And then they told me again to only if you take us to earth.

Then I tell lies oh no! no! you shall  not go on earth because the humans are going to shoot you.

So I ask them can I go on their alien ship? they said yes!

Finally I laugh and went back to earth.

I should live on the moon because there might be some living things in it.
I think that I should live in the moon because there are no noise and it is peaceful there.

I think people should live in the moon because it has no gravity and it is fun if we can jump high.
We should stay on the moon, so we can learn if there are plants on the moon.

Most important thing  people should live on the moon because there are no cars, buildings and it is quiet.

I really think that I should be allowed to do homework because it teach us important things like reading.

Children should be allowed to bring homework because it will make our brain smart.
Children should really do their homework because if they don't do their homework they will not know anything about
RE , that teaches us about God .

I think that children should not be given homework because at home they had lots of housework.
 I think children should not be allowed to do there homework 
because they want to be with their friend.
Most important thing children should do there homework because it will teach them how to write story.

Ice cream

I think children should allowed to eat Ice cream because it has vitamins and it  makes us strong.

Children are allowed to eat Ice cream because it has banana  fruits, and milk in it and milk makes our body strong and it will make our bones.
Ice cream are good for children because it has different flavour and some of the flavour has lots of vitamin and makes you healthy.

Strawberry Ice cream are the best Ice cream because it is mixed with fruit and they are good for me. Chocolate Ice cream has to much sugar in it and it will make me fat.
Most important thing children should not allowed to eat Ice cream because it has cookies in it and it is not good for us because it will make our teeth rotten.

Children should be allowed to eat chocolate when ever they wanted too.

I really think that a friend could be better  if they stop gossiping because they might tell something bad.

A friend should be better if they stop bullying other person because another person will bully them back.

A friend could be better if they stop fighting with other person because it might end up with a big problem.

I like a friend that is always happy and play with me because if you don't have a friend you will be sad. 

Most important thing a friend could be better is, if he could be my best friend forever.

We had Tesa came into our class  room, and she taught us about saving money. First she gave us some activity an asked us how do we save the money.  Justice put up her hand and said you have to save it in a bank.
Then she told us to get a partner and talk about travelling around the world. My partner was Lupe I said I want to travel to Samoa. 

Later she told us to stop. Next she gave us a question  it  was to swipe the card in the machine .
Finally she gave us the ASB Lomeband , it was a awesome. 
We said thank you to Tesa .

The Badminton

Yes! It's time to play badminton!

Last Friday we went to play badminton. First we sat down on the  floor and listened to coach Ben . Then we had a warm up.It was so fun and cool. I jogged to the wall and back, Then I ran sideways. 

After that coach Ben told the girls and boys to get the rackets. Coach Ben taught us how  to hold the racket. He told us to watch for the people next to us because I might hit some one's eye. Next, we get the shuttle  and hit it softly because it might break the windows and the light. It was cool.

Finally we said thank you to coach Ben for teaching us how to play badminton then we went back to class and do some work. I had a great time.

                                                         

My Silly dog

Last Saturday, my dog was in a very big trouble.
My dog's feet got stuck in a hole of the fence.
I was scared that my dog will get hurt.


My mum rang the fire fighters to come and help my dog.
The fire fighters were worried because the fence is next to the motorway and the dog might run to the road and will be hit by cars.
They got an axe to break the fence so my dog will be free.
The fire fighters did a good job and they gave me my dog back. He was saved! I said thank you to them for saving my dog.

  

My Mum is the best

My Mum is loving and protective  because she holds my hand when we cross the road. My Mum gaves me a kiss and a hug when I go  to school and bed-time. 

She also gaves me a kiss when I do the right choice.  My Mum is kind . because she lets me go with  my cousins to the birthday party. She is beautiful when she dances. 

My Mum is awesome because she gave me a cookie. She also helps me to learn how to cook and helps me do school homework.

She also helps me to clean my room. When I get hurt she puts a plaster on my cut and says it's al-right. I love my Mum very much!

Manaiakalani school

Manaiakalani  Schools  welcomed the visitors from Hawaii.

On Wednesday our school went to met the waka  from Hawaii. Firstly we sat down on the grass and waited for the waka. Then we saw the waka coming in to the shore. Next, all   Manaiakalani schools did a haka as the waka come in.


After the haka, we sang the welcome song.Then we sat down again and listened what the visitors wanted to say. Then the visitors sang karakia. Lastly we all went down to hi five the visitors. Finally went back to school on the bus.

Playing Tee Golf!

Have you played Tee Golf before? First we had a warm up. Next I started to play tee golf. I learnt how to do left foot, right foot, piggy pop swing.

Next I swung the golf ball as far as I can. Then I put the golf club on my shoulder for three seconds.
After that I gave the golf club to the next person.

Coach Stu asked us what the two golden rules were and I said "Be safe and have fun". Coach stu also asked us what we had learnt.

I said I learnt how to hold a golf club and how to swing the golf club. I also learnt some social skill.

Lastly we shook hands with coach and said "Good game!"
